2020 has changed life as we know it...

Starting with education, K-12 to college students environments have transitioned to virtual learning.

Teachers and students now operate in some states - solely online. Many professions have transitioned to telecommuting and even cannabis had a major shift.

In Maryland, cannabis was deemed essential in March 2020.

That's no small feat!

Over the last few months, the industry has grown with new licensees coming online and ancillary businesses are growing and being recognized by the state and of course, professional networks and organizations growth.

But what about networking?

Interestingly enough, cannabis culture is rooted in community and one of the things that hasn't been able to happen over the last few months is the gathering of community.

Many organizations have switched to virtual gatherings, training and even socially distanced events. But as we know in order to adapt to new changes - there is always room for pivot.

So if you need a refresher on networking or even a head-start on networking moving forward, here's a few tips and tricks to help you establish yourself in cannabis in a COVID-19 world

Redefine Your Relationships

Set Intentions for Interactions! Time is essential and even more value now that much of the way we connect has shifted. Has there been a time recently in an online webinar or panel and you wonder - “How did I get here?” Stop wasting your time and get clear on WHY you signed up and how it connects to your larger goal for networking.

Is it success?

Don’t forget to ask RELEVANT questions when networking online - Kick the Fluff! We all are guilty of showing up online as someone we aren’t but let’s turn over a new leaf in 2020. What’s the worst that can happen? It's OKAY to not know all the answers.

  • Avoid multitasking

  • Build in breaks

  • 3 TAB Limit on browser windows - Just do it!

  • Communication overload? Switch to phone calls or email for connecting for a day, if you can.

  • Turn off the video if needed - TAKE A SCREEN BREAK
